Setup for ISP Failover

Scenario: We want to create a network in which if one ISP fails the traffic should go through the   second ISP without our network going down.

Note: The two ISP lines should be in the different subnets.

Step1. Now we will configure our WAN1 interface. To Do so go to,
·         System->network
·         Edit for WAN1
·         Select manual and give your ISP IP
·         Also select the services which you want to select to mange device using this interface
·         Click OK

Step2.  Similarly define the IP for WAN2.
Step3. Now we need to define the static route for the First ISP.
            To do so go to,
·         Router  à  static
·         Select Create New and give the following details

In the option of Gateway give the gateway IP address of your First ISP.

Step4.  Similarly create a static route for the second ISP.

Step5. Now we need to create a policy from internal to WAN1
By default one policy from internal to WAN1 would be there, and if not then we need to configure it. Firewallà Policy

Step6. Similarly we also need to create the same policy through WAN2 also.

Note: By default ECMP protocol is enabled in the firewall hence the traffic will go through both WAN interfaces.

Step7. To configure the Failover go to,
Systemà Network clicks on edit for WAN1 interface.

Check the option of Detect Interface Status for Gateway Load Balancing gives the address of a gateway or a server.

Step8. Similarly do the same for WAN2 interface.
