Scenario:
Allocating particular amount of
bandwidth for users in LAN
Step1>
We first need to configure the basic LAN
and WAN settings on the firewall.
To define the bandwidth we need to go to,
FirewallàTraffic Shaperà Click
on Create New
Give the appropriate name
Give the Guaranteed Bandwidth (It means that the amount of bandwidth given here will be
the minimum which the users will share.)
Give the Maximum Bandwidth (It means that the
amount of bandwidth given here will be the maximum which the users will
share.)
Then click on OK
NOTE:
- If
we have a line of 256 kbps and we have given 120 kbps guaranteed bandwidth
between three users then the total amount of bandwidth that the three
users will SHARE would be 120
kbps.
- We have defined maximum bandwidth as 131 kbps then the
total amount of bandwidth that the three users will SHARE will never
exceed 131 kbps.
Step3>
Now we need to define the
bandwidth in the policy. To do so go to,
Firewallà Policyà Click on
edit for the default policy
Click the check for Traffic Shaping and select the profile from the dropdown menu that
you have already created.
